The content is intended to help you improve what we call 'health literacy.' This refers to your knowledge about this topic and how to manage it.
Perhaps the most important information to know is that pain is a signal that you learn from that guides your behavior. It can be appropriate, for example, when you learn not to touch a hot stove. It can be incorrect, for example, when it tells you that you are unsafe performing a motion when actually you are safe.
Fear and worry drive a lot of our pain experiences. It is possible to change this and turn down the volume on the pain.
